What we do
Free Cakes for Kids Enfield is a community service for families who find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child. The cakes are baked by volunteers from the local area. It's free, friendly and confidential.
At the heart of Free Cakes for Kids Enfield are individual birthday cakes. Put simply, we match families in need with passionate local bakers. We work with local organisations in Enfield that support children and families, who make referrals to our service.
Free Cakes for Kids Enfield is part of the Free Cakes for Kids UK Network. Find out more about the UK Network of Free Cakes for Kids groups here
What difference does a cake make?
Everybody likes a cake, but birthday cakes are extra special. There are many ways in which a single birthday cake can make a big difference:
Having an impressive cake made just for you makes you feel special;
You have something to share with your friends, so you can invite them to a party;
How does it work?
Free Cakes for Kids Enfield connects families who find it difficult to provide a birthday cake for their child with local bakers who enjoy making and decorating cakes. The reason a family might want a cake from us could be because of financial or health issues, or due to other difficult circumstances.
We receive referrals from a variety of partner agencies such as children's centres, schools, the local Food Bank or women's refuges.
When a request comes in we will ask for a few details (child's age, dietary requirements, favourite theme) and then find one of our volunteer bakers to make the cake. The cake is then delivered to the referring organisation so they can deliver it to the family (this ensures that we maintain confidentiality).
