We were invited to run the cake stall at a Macmillan coffee morning and shopping event being held at the Cherry Tree pub in Southgate. The morning was a great success and raised nearly £800 for the fantastic Macmillan cause. We also raised money for Free Cakes for Kids Enfield and spread the word about our group.
18 & 19 July 2014
This was a busy week...on the Friday we held our first Free Cakes for Kids Enfield Pop Up Cafe! Lots of people came along to enjoy the lovely cakes we'd baked and sit in the sunshine. Many thanks to everyone who came along - we hope you had a good time and will come back when we do it again in the autumn!
Then on the Saturday we had a pitch at the Southgate Festival, outside local cafe Heritage, thanks to the owner Colin. We sold lots more cakes and some loom bands our children had made to support our cause. From both events, we raised a fantastic amount of money and talked to lots of interested people about the Free Cakes for Kids concept. We hope to sign up a few new volunteer bakers as a result!
Huge thanks to everyone who came and supported us over the two days.

Today everything has come together - we have our first cake referrals. We're all really looking forward to baking Free Cakes for Kids Enfield's first cakes and helping to make four children's birthdays a little bit more special.

Southgate cafe Heritage have offered us the opportunity to have a table outside their premises during the Southgate Festival on Saturday 19 July so we can sell some cakes and hand out flyers so we can raise money and awareness of our service. Many thanks to Colin at Heritage!

I took calls today from both Asda in Edmonton and Morrisons in Palmers Green offering support in the form of donations of ingredients. Fantastic news - letters were only sent out yesterday, so this instant response is really great. Many thanks to both Asda and Morrisons!

We've also received our first baking commission from a local Beaver and Cub group, who will make a substantial donation for a cake for one of their group leaders.
